Working in a relaxed way

Stress doesn’t just weaken our immune system and makes us more predisposed to illnesses, but also to making mistakes.

In your business mistakes can have severe consequences. Yes, we all are human beings and we will be forgiven for making the one or the other mistake. However, we should avoid making them in the first place as much as possible.

When we are stressed, overworked and tired this becomes more and more difficult. So we shouldn’t let it get this far.

Sometimes stress is unavoidable. That’s why it’s important to learn how to deal with stress. When you notice that this tight and tense sensation overcomes you, pause for a moment.

Get yourself into an upright seated position, sitting at the front part of your chair, without your back touching the backrest and take 3 to 5 deep and full breaths. Breathe deeply into your belly, into your ribcage and into your chest and feel how your whole body expands. Now begin to exhale slowly, feeling how your torso moves back into its orginial shape. Extend the exhalation a bit longer than you normally would.

Repeat this process until you are filled of a sensation of clarity and spaciousness and until you feel ready to continue your activities. This little exercise works a bit better if you close your eyes and open a window to fill your lungs with fresh air.

If, however, this exercise has no effect on your, maybe it is time to think about what you can change in your workday to avoid or reduce stress. 

One option is to hire a virtual assistant to take over some of your work that you can delegate.
